Rwanda Conclusions (Properties & Activities)

23 November 2021

Rwanda is a calm and beautiful country – the people are gentle and kind. They stand side by side no matter their belief, they work together and have created a beautiful, neat country. The farmlands between Kigali and the Virunga’s are never ending – every inch of the lands are farmed and well taken care off.  On the first Saturday of every month, all citizens of Rwanda head onto the streets for a group clean-up of all litter – from the President to the street sweepers. The country is clean and tidy throughout.

Bisate Lodge and Singita Kwitonda are both relatively new deluxe properties.

Both provide impeccable services to the guests, and we sell with each property with confidence.

They have almost the same amenities, only that Singita Kwitonda Lodge has a heated swimming pool which Bisate does not have.

Bisate Lodge is set on an elevated area where some level of fitness is required as one must climb stairs up to the main area.  All six rooms are conically shaped thatched forest villas tucked into the lush forest setting with spacious verandas opening out onto magnificent views of the surrounding peaks with an amazing view of Volcanoes like Kalisimbi and Bisoke.

Singita Kitonda is located within a landscape of wetland with magnificent views of Volcanoes such as Sabyinyo, Gahinga and Muhabura. Buildings have been designed using local materials such as volcanic rock and river stone. Beautiful indoor and outdoor living spaces serve as the heart of the lodge

Both lodges are of similar distance to the park headquarters (30min-45min)

We appreciate having a basic understanding of clients physical abilities as the properties can allocate a group of gorillas closer to the starting point. Thus tailoring to all fitness levels.

March-May and Oct-Nov are the rainy seasons.

Gorillas and Golden monkeys can be seen throughout the year – the lodges can provide rain gear if there is rainfall about.

Rwanda also has the most fantastic game reserve called Akagera National Park.  If you want safari, then we recommend a 3 or 4 night stay at Magashi Tented Camp in Akagera National Park.  They offer land and water based activities, good game (lion and rhino have been reintroduced), excellent birding (over 540 species), highest hippo densities in Africa, good leopard – the area is known for predator sightings. One can either helicopter (approximately 30 minutes) from the gorilla area (Volcanoes) directly to Akagero or you can overland transfer (approximately 3 hours) from Volcanoes back to Kigali for an overnight, and the following day overland to Akagera (approximately 2½ hours).
