Coronavirus update – 16 March 2020
Our thoughts are with anyone who has been affected by the Coronavirus outbreak and we are very thankful for the efforts of those working to prevent and contain its spread.
Trans Africa Safaris is acutely sensitive to the uncertainties that travel advisors and clients may be experiencing regarding their planned trip to Africa.
In an effort to contain the spread of the virus, on March 15th, the South African government announced a temporary travel ban on foreign nationals from China, Italy, South Korea, Germany, United States and United Kingdom. This ban is effective immediately.
Whilst this ban may appear drastic and will certainly have a far-reaching, negative impact on the tourism industry in Africa, we are somewhat consoled by the fact that active measures are being taken to protect the citizens of the country and curtail the spread of the virus.
We broadly encourage travellers with bookings in the next 3 months not to cancel, but rather reschedule plans for a future date. For those with travel plans for July onwards we continue urging them “to stay the course” at this present time.
Rest assured, the well-being of our clients is of the utmost importance and we shall always act in their best interests.
Even if unable to secure “cancellation of travel for any reason” insurance, please continue taking out fully comprehensive cover.
