This intimate lodge of just ten tented suites (including two sets of interconnecting family units) is set in the private 5,700-acre Kimana Sanctuary, near Amboseli National Park.
With the opening planned for 01 November 2023, Angama Amboseli, set within a forest of towering fever trees is where some of Africa’s last Super Tuskers roam — elephants with tusks so large they sweep along the ground as they walk. Drawing inspiration from the two ‘giants’ of the landscape – elephants and Kili, this is a wonderful start or finish to any East African safari.
Angama Amboseli has exclusive traversing access to the Sanctuary, which is the heart of a vital migratory path for wildlife that connects Amboseli National Park to two other protected areas, the Chyulu Hills and Tsavo West National Park. Home to eland, buffalo, reedbuck, giraffe, zebra, warthogs in their hundreds, along with leopard, cheetah, serval and many birds of prey – a remarkable density of wildlife sustained by a perennial stream which flows off Mount Kilimanjaro and creates an oasis of green amidst the dusty Amboseli landscape.
Kili, the tallest free-standing mountain in the world, is omnipresent, and can be seen from everywhere in the camp, and on game drives.
Access is easy: a 3,5-hour overland transfer from Nairobi, or via scheduled flights to Kimana Airfield in the Sanctuary, Amboseli National Park or Chyulu Hills. Or, a private charter directly into Sanctuary’s Airfield.
This is a place where you can slow down and catch your breath. After all, ‘Kimana’ means ‘to stay a while.’
