As if in harmony with the new season, Africa is once again starting to welcome foreign visitors.
In South Africa, we recently moved to Level 2 Lockdown which saw the relaxing of certain restriction and allows locals to travel within the country. This is providing a much-needed stimulus to accommodation establishments. Equally well-received was the news that liquor and cigarette sales are again allowed and restaurants are able to sell wine and spirits until closing time at 10pm.
All of us in tourism, are eagerly awaiting the reopening of South Africa’s borders for regional travel and, hopefully shortly thereafter, the resumption of international travel into the country.
South Africa’s Covid-19 infections are declining weekly and, we as an industry, believe that we are ready to start receiving foreign visitors again soon. Best practice operating procedures and hygiene protocols are in place and being vigorously implemented and monitored.
Adding to our Spring elation is the ever-increasing list of other African countries whose borders are open to international travel. Tanzania opened late May, Kenya & Rwanda in early August, Zambia in late August, and Namibia will open its borders on 01 September.
Nature marches to its own drum, but in concert with blossoming of the spring flowers and new green leaves on the trees, all of us at Trans Africa Safaris, are ardently anticipating the return of international clients to our shores!
