Transfer to Legendary Lodges for 1 night.
Set in lush tropical gardens on a working coffee farm just outside Arusha, the Legendary Lodge features six beautiful garden cottages, each with an inspiring view of Mount Meru from its own private veranda. Designed with a unique blend of African arts and crafts, combined with old, colonial-style luxury, the cottages offer king sized beds, a separate lounge with fireplace and ensuite bathrooms with deep tubs and refreshing showers.
The two-bedroom Kahawa cottage is ideal for families, while two cosy ensuite rooms are available in The Old Farmhouse for those who prefer to be closer to the dining room and guest lounge.
Mouth-watering gourmet meals are served in the gracious environment of The Old Farmhouse. Legendary Therapies Spa offers rejuvenating treatments in the elegant therapy room or in the privacy of the guest cottages.
A selection of fascinating coffee farm tours, shopping expeditions and interesting day tours are available from the lodge.
Day 2
Road transfer (approximately 1½ hours) to Little Chem Chem for 2 nights.
Known as the sunrise camp, Little Chem Chem is situated on the edge of an acacia forest. The camp is surrounded by the characteristic landscape of the Tarangire River with its impressive Baobab trees and overlooks the freshwater lake, Lake Burunge. The atmosphere at Little Chem Chem is welcoming, elegant and oozing authenticity of a bygone era. Lions roam the camp and call each other at night; stately elephants march down to Lake Burunge to get a sprinkling of fresh water; cheetahs hunt on the plains facing the lake; leopards, eland and lesser kudu can be seen in the more dense woods in the inner part of the concession. And wherever there is water, the bird life is abundant and colourful. Little Chem Chem’s intimate, elegant but authentic atmosphere, is the ultimate setting from which to explore Africa on foot. Slow down and indulge in a sensual vintage safari.
Day 4
Transfer, including a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park en route, to Ngorongoro Crater Lodge for 2 nights.
Perched on the edge of the Crater rim, And Beyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge’s sumptuous safari suites present breathtaking views. Inspired in design by the Maasai mud and stick manyatta (homestead), this is without doubt one of the most architecturally spectacular safari lodges in Africa. Three separate and intimate camps are reminiscent of a bygone era totalling just 30 suites in all. Steeped in romance, each stilted, handcrafted mud and thatch suite is adorned with graceful antiques and grand chandeliers. The bedroom, sitting room and en suite bathroom (with showers and chandelier-lit bathtubs) boast floor-to-ceiling glass windows, overlooking the magnificent Crater below. Personal butlers discreetly tend to guests’ every need, bringing tea in bed, stoking fireplaces and drawing luxurious baths.
Day 6
Air to andBeyond Serengeti Under Canvas for 3 nights
Serengeti National Park, famed for its vast tree-less grasslands and excellent wildlife sightings, the endless open plains of Tanzania’s magnificent Serengeti National Park boast 35 species of plains-dwelling game and prolific birdlife. The annual movement of wildebeest and other herbivores across East Africa’s Serengeti-Mara ecosystem is one of the greatest spectacles in the natural world. Over two million animals participate in this great migration, with some 200 000 zebra ahead of and 500 000 Thomson’s gazelle behind the main players – one and a half million wildebeest. The wildebeest spend the wet season on the south eastern Tanzanian plains and the Serengeti’s dry season on the plains of Kenya’s Masai Mara. The &Beyond Serengeti Under Canvas camps follow the Great Migration, bringing guests as close as possible to all the action.
&Beyond Serengeti Under Canvas reaches far beyond the bounds of the traditional Tanzanian safari – the sumptuously luxurious tented, seasonal camps move around the Serengeti year round, bringing guests within range of the Great Migration. When the Migration crosses over into Kenya, the camps remain in the remote, beautiful corners of the Serengeti, renowned for excellent resident game. The two intimate camps feature just eight ensuite safari tents each, carefully positioned in exclusive semi-permanent campsites in the Serengeti National Park. Booked on a nightly basis, each luxury ensuite mobile tent boasts a comfortable double bed, ensuite bathroom, separate w.c. and bucket shower – this is the ultimate in luxury camping. The guest areas comprise comfortable tents for dining, meeting for a pre-dinner drink, or just for whiling the time away between safaris – complete with private butler service, delicious home-baked meals, and traditional bush dinners served under the stars.
Day 9
Air to Zanzibar for 3 nights at Baraza Resort & Spa.
Situated on the renowned Bwejuu Beach along the south-eastern shoreline of Zanzibar, guests can lap up tropical vistas and enjoy exceptional service while enjoying the luxury of one of Baraza’s intimate villas. Each villa showcases the dramatic characteristics of Swahili architecture and boasts an en suite bathroom, breezy terrace and private plunge pool. Guests are spoilt for choice with the array of dining venues, which include a poolside lunch restaurant, an elegant dining room and a delightful breakfast eatery, while the sheesha bar is the perfect spot to unwind. An outstanding spa (complete with a lap pool and jacuzzi), a fitness centre, a Water sports and PADI Scuba Diving Centre and a lovely boutique store add to guest delight.
