Insurance
It is a must for those travelling with Trans Africa Safaris to take out medical and emergency evacuation insurance.
We strongly advise all clients to take out adequate insurance cover for incidents such as cancellation due to illness, accident or injury, personal accident and personal liability, loss of or damage to baggage and sports equipment (Note that this is not an exhaustive list). When taking out this cover, clients are encouraged to ensure that their insurance cover specifically protects them from “cancellation under any circumstance.”
Trans Africa Safaris cannot be held responsible in the event that you do not have sufficient insurance, or if your insurance does not cover you for cancellations or if your insurance excludes certain risks.
Notwithstanding the above, it is recommended that you send a copy of your medical/emergency evacuation insurance policy wording to Trans Africa Safaris so that we may be able to provide a copy to any private hospital or other service provider should the need arise. In the event that a client is unable to communicate in an emergency situation, we would be able to produce the insurance policy to the relevant service provider on the client’s behalf. Trans Africa Safaris cannot be responsible if a private hospital or service provider refuses to admit a client.
Waiver and Indemnity
Trans Africa Safaris acts solely in the capacity of a travel agency for the client/tour member/ passenger (“client”). By engaging our services, the client accepts that they have chosen to take part in the activity being offered and agree and understand that the activities offered may be inherently dangerous and may create certain risks to persons that can result in property damage and physical injury.

- If the itinerary includes a visit to more than 1 African country, we suggest they have at least 2 consecutive blank visa pages per country being visited. Blank page requirements for visits to Southern Africa, change regularly.
- Passports must be valid for 6 months after your departure from Southern or East Africa.
Amendments
Should changes be requested once reservations have been confirmed, a Trans Africa Safaris change fee will be raised. At present the fee is US$35 per change. Any fees raised by the suppliers will also be levied.

Cancellations
As a general rule, the following fees apply, but please note certain suppliers have slightly less/more stringent penalties. If Trans Africa Safaris is able to reduce any supplier fees at the time of cancellation, the reduction will be passed onto the client.
- In the event that the trip is cancelled for any reason, the cancellation policies of each individual supplier will apply, and applicable refunds will be made.
- Much of the deposits paid at confirmation of the booking are used to support local communities in Africa, antipoaching units as well as conservation, and in part, for this reason, are not refundable.
- Trans Africa Safaris’ costs associated with designing, co-ordinating and planning the program, are largely incurred prior to travel taking place. We reserve the right to retain a design/program/administration fee of 8% (with a minimum charge of US$500 booking).
The below fees are a guide to be used when taking insurance. We strongly advise clients to take sufficient cancellation insurance to cover the below penalties. Medical and emergency evacuation insurance is a must for Africa.
Certain properties allow cancellation up to 65, and in some case up to 35, days before travel with no fees being charged. Individual property T&Cs are subject to seasonal travel dates, etc. At the time the proposal has been accepted by clients, Trans Africa Safaris is happy to provide updated terms based on specific supplier fees applicable to the program chosen. In the meantime, work on the below fees as a guide.
